I did not sleep well. I went to bed at 1am after catching the season finale of Charmed on cable, only to be rudely interrupted by some inconsiderate fucker honking the horn on his car/vehicle. And it wasn't even like some "bor! bor! bor!", he went "boooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" for a good 10 minutes. I must have been dreaming about work or something because I woke up stunned and proceeded to check all my phones and gadgets to find which one was making that horrible sound. Strange that no one else in my home, dog included, felt disturbed by the irritating sound. And with the manner in which sound waves grow as they move higher, you can bet that I had no problems hearing it loud and clear despite living on the 13th floor.
Anyway, enough about 1am. Fast forward to 5am, my dad woke me up to get ready to go out. My first thought today was, "I want to go back to sleep. No you cannot. Got meeting at 10am, so you need to leave office by 9.30am. So you need to go to the office earlier. Ok :(" Dragged my body out of bed and looked around absentmindedly before heading to the toilet and taking a "too hot" shower. Came out of shower, got dressed and also got angry because I was not able to find my black pants. Prettified my face, styled my hair and dashed out of the house after being nagged at, "its 6.37 already!!!!!"
Got in the car, set my things down properly, closed my eyes and went back to sleep. Sleep sleep sleep and woke up upon arriving at Eunos for breakfast. Ate an average tasting fishball beehoon soup while watching the sun slowly play hide and seek behind a blanket of grey clouds. *drip* *drop* Finished breakfast, got back into the car and *terk* *terk* *terk* sounds of rain covered the sound of FD and Glenn on the radio.
Despite the showers, the sun shined brightly through the clouds and by the time I arrived at the big grass field just opposite my office building, a great big rainbow arched from the HDB flats, over my building and the next and the next and the next all the way over to the other end of Ubi (where CDC is). That made my day. (^_^) and maybe my dad's as well.
I cannot remember the last time I saw a full arch rainbow, so bright, so vibrant where all 7 colours were clearly visible. That really made my day.
I love rainbows and I remember every one I see. This is the 4th rainbow I have experienced in my 23 years of survival. And the fact that it was also a double rainbow made me happy, childlike.
And as we passed under the rainbow and it disappeared over us, I could not help but feel happier, luckier that I saw one of nature's "miracles" today, and blessed that I have been able to appreciate the little things in life.
