long weekend, new hobby

i was on the phone with ashley on saturday evening having a very short and brief conversation with her, during which i told her that i had spent my entire saturday taking out my grubby ol' earrings and re-furbishing them.  which yes, i did with nothing but me trusty pair o' tweezers!  needless to say, the $30 manicure i did the weekend before went down the drain.

before they became like this, they were 4 separate pairs of earrings and the green-yellow beads on the right came from a necklace.

i should have been contented with my 3 new "pairs" of earrings, but no.  me, and i, we only feel good when money is spent (which most of the time we cannot agree on whether it is a good or bad thing.)  so, $68.50* later, 22 hours 15 minutes and 37 seconds after the first 3 pairs were "reincarnated", the following 2 were born.

amazonite stones on the ends of a mix of swarovski and acrylic beads.

Shoulder-duster earrings made of a mixture of swarovkski and acrylic beads.  Jade as the centre pieces.
*monetary note: bulk of the amount spent was on materials - the hooks and connectors and etc don't come free ya know! and also on the 14 pieces of amazonite stones i found too pretty to resist.

i am now very happy because i have many pairs of pretty earrings of which i have not much use for since i only have 2 pairs of ears.  my next investment would be to discover a new way of growing more ears to cater for more pretty earrings.

on a different note, today i learnt new things from ck.
1.  i didn't get scolding for spending so much money on the beady-thingies after i told him that,
(a) they only cost me $50 plus (always round-down the actual spending amount)
(b) i could sell what i made to break-even and then profit too.
2.  he agreed that yes, from what he has observed from many shops, money can be made from, quote "tying 2 or 3 lousy stones together and selling them for a $100 bucks or so", unquote. (is this a man's interpretation of the pretty and MUST BUY earrings we women covet?)
3.  now that he knows this can potentially make some kind of $, he promptly gave me 4 hours grace to create something and then sms-ed me, "take a picture now and email to me. I am so excited about it.*", which is why i am online at this ungodly hour.
4.  *he has recently learnt to verbalise his feelings such as the above mentioned statement.  of course, if he finds out that i am blonking about his language-skills, i don't think i want to be around to experience his verbalisation of anger.  but yeah, blonking...such a great way to share one's joy with others, yah?
